From December 4 to 6, 2019, with the support of the Mayor's Office of Monaco and the Russian Export Center, the principality's Christmas atmosphere got culinary tone as part of the Gastronomic Seasons festival, held at the historic Marché de la Condamine market.
The festival once again proved its status as the largest gastronomic event of the year on the Cote d'Azur and Monaco, where the best chefs from different countries came together to tell about the culture of their country through gastronomy and to reveal their secret culinary techniques.
“Gastronomy is an integral part of every country’s culture, so it can be seen as a journey or another way of exploring the world,” said Natalia Marzoeva, founder of the festival.
The festival was attended by local chefs: Erwin Tabaku, the chef of the “Le Comptoir” restaurant in Monaco, Cyril Breteau, the French chef of La Terrasse du Marché, Patrick Raingeard, holder of the Michelin star from "La table de Patrick Raingear"”of Hotel Cap Estel, Harajiri Shinaia, chef at “MC by Kodera”, and a group of chefs from “Maison des Pâtes” and “Truffle Bistrot”.
Russia was represented by: Victor Belei, chef at “UHVAT” restaurant (Moscow), awarded with the Russian gold medal Bocuse d'Or 2019, Alexander Volkov-Medvedev, chef at “Ruski restaurant” (Moscow), Alexey Belikov, professional chef at “Vanil” restaurant (Moscow) and Evgeny Mikhailov, an award-winning chef promoting a new cuisine approach at the “Drinks@Dinners” restaurant (Moscow).
The festival was also attended by chefs from Georgia: Guram Bagdoshvili, the best Georgian chef according to Gault & Millau, and Zaza Potskhishvili, the chef of the “Tone Georgien” restaurant in Nice.
An international team of top chefs has offered a gourmet 5-course menu. “Noël des Chefs” Gala Dinner, held on December 5, drew attention to the best traditional Russian specialties such as “Sturia” and “Sonico-Chumikan” caviar, “Sugref” and “Matsesta” teas, “Schastie” chocolate and "Russian Crown" vodka.
On the occasion of this fest, an international team of top chefs has developed a unique combination of Russian ingredients with some Italian and French notes, presenting well-balanced tastes in red and white colors of the Principality.
The gala evening menu included: Duck confit with juniper berries sauce by Alexey Belikov, Mimosa salad with grilled vegetables and exquisite red “Sonico-Chumikan” caviar by Victor Beley, “Raviolo” made of Atlantic lobster with Alba truffle by Patrick Raingeard, sea bass fillet topped with raw Chioggia beets, combined with celery and black Sturia caviar and begonia flowers by Cyril Breteau.
The Gastronomic Seasons Festival presented the latest trends in haute cuisine of international gastronomy, mixing old traditions with innovations using the highest quality ingredients from certified local manufacturers - the perfect combination to enjoy a real Christmas gourmet party.
The event was attended by: Prime Minister of Monaco, Serge Tell, Deputy Mayor of Virginia, Crovetto Arrosch, Consul General of Russia in France, Stanislav Oransky, Honorary Consul of Russia in Monaco, Ekaterina Semenikhina and other guests.
